Description

After breakfast, you will head out for a day of exploring the crystal clear sea of the Semporna Archipelago. First stop is BoheyDulang, a jagged volcanic island. Take a 30 minute walk to the top for a breathtaking view of the islands around. After finishing the trek, we will head to the nearby island of Kalapuan where there is a Bajau Laut village. Bajau Laut are traditional sea farers - the traditional Bajau still spend 99% of their lives living on boats. They are also a stateless ethnic group, with no citizenship to any country. We will walk through the village, and then go to visit our school on the island. Meet the teachers and children. You will be able to learn about the Bajau Laut culture while you are on the island.

Note - This is an amazing and thought-provoking place to visit, and it offers a real insight to a very unique culture. It can also be emotional, as the Bajau Laut live in extreme poverty, and get no support from the government. On the way back to Mataking, stop at Timba Timba for snorkeling, before returning for lunch. Rest of the day is spent free and easy on the island. Snorkel or visit the turtle hatchery (hopefully turtles will get released while you are there).
